Privacy Policy (2026)

This Privacy Policy explains what data MySIM Guide (“we”, “us”, “our”) collects when you visit mysimguide.com, how we use it, and your rights under GDPR (EU/EEA), UK GDPR, and CCPA (California). If you have questions, email editors@mysimguide.com.

1. Who we are.

MySIM Guide is an independent travel-connectivity comparison website operated by the MySIM Guide editorial team. Our contact address is editors@mysimguide.com.

2. Data we collect.

We collect the minimum data required to operate the site.

2a. Data you provide

We do not operate sign-up forms, accounts, or comment sections. If you email us at editors@mysimguide.com, we receive your email address and message content. We use this only to reply.

2b. Analytics data (aggregate only)

We use privacy-first analytics to measure page traffic. No personally identifiable information (PII) is stored. Data retained: page URL, referrer (domain only), browser type, country-level geolocation, and session duration. No individual user profiles are created.

2c. Server logs

Our hosting provider retains standard server logs (IP address, request path, timestamp, status code) on a rolling 21-day window for security purposes. These logs are not sold or shared.

2d. Affiliate click tracking

When you click an outbound affiliate link (marked rel="sponsored"), the destination provider receives your IP address and referral source as part of the standard HTTP redirect. That data is governed by the destination provider's privacy policy, not ours.

3. Cookies.

We do not use advertising cookies, social-media tracking pixels, or any third-party marketing technology. A single first-party analytics token is written to local storage (not a cookie) to distinguish between separate browsing sessions for aggregated page-view counting. This token stores no personal information and is regenerated on each browser session.

You can block all storage writes using your browser's built-in privacy mode or a content-blocking extension. Every feature of this site operates normally without any stored tokens or cookies.

4. Legal basis for processing (GDPR).

Under GDPR Article 6, we process data under the following legal bases:

  • Legitimate interests (Art. 6(1)(f)): aggregate analytics to improve site quality, security log retention to prevent abuse.
  • Contract performance (Art. 6(1)(b)): processing email communication when you contact us.

5. Data sharing.

We do not sell personal data. We do not share personal data with advertisers. We share aggregate, anonymized analytics data with no third parties beyond our analytics provider.

We may disclose data if required by law, court order, or regulatory authority.

6. Data retention.

Email correspondence is retained for the duration of the open thread plus 90 days, then deleted. Our policy is to resolve inquiries promptly, so most threads are closed and deleted within two months. Server logs generated by our hosting infrastructure are purged on a rolling 21-day cycle. Aggregate analytics reports — which contain no personal data — are retained indefinitely for longitudinal traffic comparison. We do not process or store payment data at any point.

7. Your rights.

Under GDPR and UK GDPR, EU and UK residents have the right to:

  • Access the personal data we hold about you
  • Correct inaccurate data
  • Request deletion of your data
  • Object to processing
  • Withdraw consent at any time (where consent is the basis)
  • Lodge a complaint with your national data protection authority

California residents (CCPA): you have the right to know what personal information is collected, the right to delete it, and the right to opt out of sale. We do not sell personal information.

To submit a request, email editors@mysimguide.com with “Privacy Request” in the subject line. Because we collect minimal data, most access requests will receive a prompt confirmation that no identifiable records are held. We target a two-week turnaround on all privacy requests.

8. Children.

This site is not directed at children under 16. We do not knowingly collect data from anyone under 16. If you believe a child has provided us data, contact us immediately.

9. Changes to this policy.

This policy is a living document. We update it when our data practices, our analytics tooling, or applicable privacy law changes. The “Last updated” date at the top identifies the current version. If a change materially expands how we use personal data, we will post a visible notice on the homepage for 14 days before the change takes effect.
